The Minnesota Vikings’ plane landed in Appleton, Wisconsin on Friday night, but after it slid off the runway and got stuck.

The Minnesota Vikings got a bit of a scare on Friday night, one they certainly weren’t expecting. Just seconds after their plane landed in Wisconsin, it slid off the runway. The team announced the incident on their Twitter page.

Fox 11 in Wisconsin noted that the team’s plane made a safe landing at Appleton International Airport, but was met with slippery conditions. Weather conditions in the Green Bay area made for a bit of a rough landing when they touched down around 5:30 P.M. central time. This caused the plane to slide off the taxiway and get stuck in the snow.

The Vikings were landing to begin preparation for this weekend’s game with the Green Bay Packers. Earlier in the afternoon, their team shared a photo via Twitter of them getting off the bus and getting on the plane.

ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling reported during SportsCenter that the team spent nearly six hours on the plane, for what was originally scheduled to be simply a 48-minute flight. Not exactly how they planned to spend a Friday night traveling. During the live report, Goessling noted that players were using social media to post updates from the plane. Fire trucks were able to eventually retrieve players off the plane, and ensure they could get to their hotel.

Vikings fans are hoping the rest of the weekend goes a little smoother, as they face the Packers at Lambeau Field on Christmas Eve. The Vikings need to get a win if they intend on keeping their playoff hopes alive. In fact, they need to win their final two games and get a little help along the way to earn a Wild Card spot in the NFC playoffs.
