Richard Jefferson dunks on Kevin Durant, receives technical (Video)
Cleveland Cavaliers veteran forward Richard Jefferson put down a big jam on Kevin Durant and received a technical foul for taunting after.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have been doing their best on Christmas Day to get everyone hyped up for the upcoming stretch run of basketball all the way to the playoffs. While the league has been in full swing for a while, Christmas Day is when things really start to feel real. One man that’s always kept it real is Richard Jefferson.
The veteran forward has found youth with the Cavaliers and has been making highlight plays that aren’t expected of him at this stage of his career. While LeBron James and Kevin Durant were doing the heavy lifting for their teams on Sunday, Jefferson had a huge poster dunk of his own over Durant.
As Jefferson got the ball out high with Durant on him, he decided to try his luck and take it at the superstar forward. In what was probably a surprise to many, Jefferson was able to gain some separation and was able to put the dunk over his counterpart with the left hand.
After the play, the two bumped on the floor and Jefferson gave a slight stare. He would be called for a technical foul and the crowd would boo as the Warriors would get one back with the free throw that followed.
It didn’t really seem like anything egregious but the refs were calling it tight and weren’t going to let these two teams do anything unnecessary with all the history between them. However, it was a sight to see Jefferson take flight and a reminder that even the veterans can put down some nice highlights of their own on occasion.
Oh, and then a few minutes later, Jefferson did this:
Heck of a game by the veteran.
