Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Jesse Ertz throws a dart to wide receiver Byron Pringle for a marvelous 79-yard touchdown in the Texas Bowl.

The Kansas State Wildcats have been a perennial bowl team under legendary head coach Bill Snyder. Kansas State will occasionally push for Big 12 championships and meaningful bowl games, but usually the Wildcats have that dynamic playmaker to spread the field.

In the Texas Bowl against the Texas A&M Aggies, Kansas State quarterback Jesse Ertz finds wide receiver Byron Pringle for a sensational 79-yard score to tie the game up at seven after the made PAT.

Kansas State had a solid year in the Big 12 to get to 8-4, but the Wildcats were never really a major contender in the conference because they couldn’t go vertical. The offense was stagnant in the early part of the year for Snyder, but this touchdown pass from Ertz to Pringle should have EMAW Nation all sorts of fired up.

Then again, this is a Texas A&M defense that will give up the huge score. John Chavis’ Aggie defense is dominant in the pass rush, but struggles to make takes and will surrender explosive plays due to communication breakdowns in the back-end. It’s always the same.

The Aggies are having a nervous breakdown in the second half of the season and it has to be driving head coach Kevin Sumlin insane. Yes, losing quarterback Trevor Knight for the regular season was terrible news, but this was a team that was the No. 4 team in the first 2017 College Football Playoff rankings.

Now the Aggies are playing in the Texas Bowl against a Kansas State team that struggled out of the gate. Kansas State is usually a team that finds itself in September under Snyder and turns out to be a solid group in conference play.
