Michigan Wolverines linebacker Mike McCray created a spark by returning a pick-six against the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl on Friday night.

While the Michigan Wolverines failed to provide a spark on offense through three quarters against the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl on Friday, the defense did their best to give them one.

As the Seminoles tried to protect their double-digit lead and move the ball down the field, Deondre Francois made an ill-advised throw from deep within his own territory. As he was chased out of the pocket, Francois decided to throw it and see if something could happen. He threw it right to Michigan linebacker Mike McCray.

McCray would then take the football and force his way into the end zone for the pick-six. After the Wolverines looked lifeless for most of the night, their defense pulled the team within a score and changed the momentum of the ball game.

For two straight drives, the Seminoles started deep in their own territory and chose to try and take deep shots to move the ball. It didn’t work and they ended up making a mistake by being careless with the football.

After landing some big shots in the first half against the Wolverines, Florida State just didn’t have the same room to throw. The Wolverines did a great job of making adjustments and McCray read the quarterback perfectly. They would fall short on the two-point conversion but things were finally looking their way.
