For as great as Steph Curry is on the court, he’s an even better person off of it. The things he does for the Oakland community are unparallel.

In the midst of this villain role Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are embracing, it can be easy to forget how much these guys do off the court for their respective communities. Hell, even Kevin Durant is still providing for the Oklahoma City community. The four-time scoring champion had every right to abandon the city he once called home for eight years, but that’s not in his DNA. Sure, he physically left when he decide to take his talents to the Bay Area, but he’s still making an impact in Oklahoma.

Earlier this month, Durant’s foundation donated $57,000 in an effort to build a new school for the city’s homeless children. Similar to Durant, Curry does a lot for the Oakland community. Just recently, at the Ghostship warehouse, there was a fire outbreak, which resulted in the death of 36 people. To help ease the pain, Curry auctioned off two pairs of sneakers.

Friday afternoon, Curry auctioned off a pair of game worn sneakers for $30,101 on eBay. According to ESPN expert Darren Rovell, it’s a new record price for any pair of shoes from an active player. LeBron held the previous record at $28,651 for a pair of game-worn shoes dating back to 2005.

What makes Curry’s shoes even more special is the fact on one shoe it features “Oakland”, while the other says “Strong” and its stamped with Curry’s autograph along with the initials of every victim from the warehouse fire.

In addition to those sneakers, Curry auctioned a pair he wore during pregame warmups Dec. 15, which sold for $15,100. In total, the $45,201 will be donated to the Oakland fire relief fund.
