Week 17 marks the end of the 2016 NFL season. Starting at 1:00 p.m. ET, the Chicago Bears will visit the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. The winner will take home bragging rights, though no matter who wins, neither team is making the playoffs. Meanwhile, the loser will at least have the comfort of knowing they have a better draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Chicago will enter Sunday with a three game losing streak. Over their last five games, they have a 1-4 record. Matt Barkley will start at quarterback. He will look to bounce back from a five interception performance against the Green Bay Packers. Things probably won’t get easier against the Vikings, who have one of the best defenses in the NFL.
On the other side of the field, Minnesota also enters Week 17 with a 1-4 record over their last five games. 2016 started off strong for them, as they won their first five games. However, since then, Minnesota has gone 2-8. Injuries and an alleged mutiny have defined one of the biggest collapses in recent history. Sam Bradford will look to end his relatively good 2016 season on a good note, even without a strong offensive line.
Whoever wins is going to have a lot of reasons to celebrate. The loser, however, will have a very long offseason, potentially one filled with changes. No matter who wins and loses, both of their 2017 team could look a bit different than it does entering Week 17.
