2017 NFL Mock Draft: Wild Card Edition
By Tyler Brooke
After taking a wide receiver with their first pick, the Titans should look at the other side of the ball and try to find some help in their secondary. The Titans could use some help at cornerback, especially considering all of the talented wide receivers that play in the AFC South.
Tennessee could consider looking for a slot corner, but Washington’s Sidney Jones is someone who the Titans could use on the outside to shut opposing receivers down.
Jones was rarely thrown at this season, and he made quarterbacks pay for throwing his way when they did. He has a decent frame with room to grow at 6-foot-0 and 180 pounds, and he’ll need to put on some muscle if he’s going to handle some of the more physical receivers at the next level.
The Huskies corner does a great job of reading quarterbacks’ eyes and has good ball skills. Despite the Huskies losing to Alabama in the College Football Playoff, Jones shined due to the fact that the Crimson Tide couldn’t throw his way.
Given the state of the Titans’ secondary, Jones could come in and be an immediate starter at the beginning of the 2017 regular season.
