If you went to college in the early 2000s, you may have fond memories of skipping classes to indulge in afternoon binges of MTV Cribs. Among the many things a college student can binge on, this MTV series — where borderline celebrities invited you into their homes and showed your their swag — was relatively harmless.

The finest segment of the series ever recorded featured the Ying-Yang twins and a pastel watercolor painting of a sailboat. However, that episode is really for advanced viewers and is something that should be worked up to. If you’re looking for a nice entry point to the series, or just want to soak in some nostalgia, check out this episode featuring Zach Randolph, then of the Portland Trail Blazers.

One of the hard-working heroes on NBA Reddit recently found the footage.

The sharp-eyed commenters in the Reddit thread noticed a few key details that MTV choose not to focus on. For example, the Mo Cheeks bobblehead doll sitting on his bar. Or wondering why Randolph has a flat screen television wedged in next to the fireplace, in a spot where no one sitting the couch could really see it. I suppose if you’re rich enough you want to make sure even the wallflowers at your soirees can get a look at the television.

Also, the six-pointed star on Randolph’s pool table is apparently not a reference to the Jewish faith. Reddit commenters have some more details on what it represents here.

Other important notes:

A non-comprehensive list of places in Zach Randolph’s house where “it goes down”:

  • The pool table
  • The theater room
  • His “big boy” grill

Randolph is apparently from the Jim Gaffigan school of vegetarianism where you you don’t eat any meat except the delicious kinds, including turkey and chicken.

Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen sleeps in Randolph’s bedroom.

There is so much more to unpack here, at least enough for some sort of sociological dissertation. Have at it, sift for the important nuance. See if you can spot anywhere else where it might “go down.” When you’re feeling up to it, check out the link to the Ying Yang twins segment, because that house is definitely where it goes down.
