The entertainment industry is having itself some laughs at the expense of Mariah Carey after she walked off the stage during ABC’s New Years’ Eve telecast while her audio played behind her. It is the biggest lip-syncing scandal since Ashlee Simpson on Saturday Night Live.

Except Carey is a much bigger star and the stage was significantly bigger.

The chance for ridicule is certainly much higher. And even the NBA is not going to let this pass without some fun being had.

So, we turn to one of the NBA’s best mascots to weigh in. San Antonio Spurs mascot, the Coyote, did a perfect Mariah Carey in a touching tribute to her New Years’ Eve performance during Tuesday’s game.

The Coyote perfectly mimed Mariah Carey’s performance — that is all anyone could do since she was lip syncing, right? — and even walked off the stage. Mascots, of course, have the benefit of not speaking too. So that helps.

The Coyote is known as one of the best mascots in the NBA. He has had plenty of antics like this in the past. It seemed the wacky mascot was the perfect one to take a shot at fixing Mariah Carey’s performance.

Apparently, he did not have a working microphone either.

Carey, for those who missed it, walked off the stage during ABC’s New Years Eve after playing around with her microphone and sound equipment. All the while she was “singing” her song and going through her performance. Eventually, she simply walked off the stage.

There is still some squabbling going on. But it is much more fun and easier to make fun of her misfortune. Hopefully, she laughs along with us. Or at least with the Coyote.

Much like the Coyote dominated Carey, the Spurs dominated the game. They routed the Toronto Raptors 110-82, continuing to assert their dominance over the rest of the league.
