The big question now that the 2016 college football season is over is when does the 2017 college football season begin?

As soon as the 2016 College Football National Championship Game brings the bowl season to a thrilling conclusion, college football fans everywhere want to know one thing: When does the 2017 college football season begin?

The 2017 college football campaign begins the weekend of September 2, 2017, but a few teams will have early games that will play before that. A few of the early games include Ohio State facing off against Indiana on Thursday, August 31st, while Washington takes on Indiana on Friday, September 1st. Most schools have their schedules lined up for opening weekend but need to finalize things like game times and television coverage.

In the meantime, the month of April will bring spring football games to whet the appetites of fans that need a dose of college football prior to the long wait until fall reporting dates. The three days to watch are April 8th, April 15th, and April 22nd, with games added frequently. Some of these big games will be televised nationally while the others will be live streamed on school and conference websites.

There are several big games to watch over the 2017 college football kickoff weekend. The two teams that faced off in the 2016 College Football National Championship Game will start their seasons in very different ways. Clemson hosts the Kent State Golden Flashes while Alabama hosts the Florida State Seminoles. Also watch for Louisville at Purdue, Texas vs Maryland, and Michigan at Florida.
