ArDarius Stewart created some late-game magic for Alabama, which eventually led to a go-ahead score in the CFP National Championship game.

ArDarius Stewart is one of Alabama’s top pass-catching threats and has even been utilized in the running game here and there. He and Calvin Ridley have been two of quarterback Jalen Hurts’ top targets in the passing game throughout the season.

However, it would be the use of Stewart’s arm that helped the Crimson Ride thrive in a crucial moment of the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

After Clemson scored a go-ahead touchdown to make the score, 28-24, Alabama took over and looked for a quick answer. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian went to a trick play to do this, putting the ball in Stewart’s hands and having him hit O.J. Howard for a 24-yard pass to give Nick Saban’s team all the momentum they needed.

One play later, Hurts would bolt to the end zone on a thunderous 30-yard touchdown run to put Alabama ahead, 31-28, with just two minutes left. This put the ball into Clemson’s hands, who bolted into the opposition’s side of the field.

The play from Stewart helped give Alabama all the drive they needed in that moment, which led to the Hurts touchdown. Everything seemed set to go their way to close the game with the late-game magic that this school has produced before, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, this led them to national championship wins in the past, and made them inch toward it on Monday night.
