The widespread pain of Alabama’s loss can be found all the way in Las Vegas, where many bookkeepers are still shaking off the terrible hangover.

The entire country watched as quarterback DeShaun Watson rolled right out of the snap and casually tossed the game winning touchdown to Hunter Renfrow. With just one second left on the clock, the Clemson Tigers had conquered the Crimson Tide’s number one ranked defense to earn a much deserved victory. While Alabama fans spread across Raymond James Stadium looked on in stunned disbelief, Vegas bookkeepers all over Sin City collapsed to their knees in anguish.

Per Aaron Torres of Foxsports.com, the National Championship Game result was described as one of the worst outcomes in recent memory. Clemson entered the contest as 6.5 point underdogs beneath the powerhouse Crimson Tide. Not only did they pull off one of the largest upsets most Vegas bookkeepers can remember, but they managed to cover the over on the spread as well.

Also reported by Torres were some details regarding the financial losses Vegas suffered. MGM reportedly lost “in the high six figures,” which includes a five-figure bet on Clemson to win. Also included were three six-figure bets on the Clemson Tigers to conquer the spread, which they did.

The scene in Vegas was arguably more dreadful than that of Tuscaloosa, Alabama after the breathtaking defeat. There was virtually no worse outcome possible than Clemson winning in a high scoring affair. Given that Alabama possessed a double-digit lead as they entered the fourth quarter, some Vegas bookkeepers must be using sick days today.
