With the game on the line late in the fourth quarter, freshman Jalen Hurts came up monstrous with the go-ahead rushing touchdown for Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide found themselves in a position they’re none too familiar with on Monday night. On the biggest stage in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, they watched Deshaun Watson and the Clemson Tigers take the late fourth quarter lead. Despite Bama leading for most of the game, it then came down to one monstrous opportunity for true freshman quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

As he has been for the entirety of his freshman season, Hurts was up for the task.

Bama’s freshman quarterback was masterful after two unproductive plays to start the drive. He then completed a pass, helped call a run for a first on fourth down, then orchestrated a trick play for a huge gain. However, the biggest moment came on the next play. With the pocket collapsing around him, the quarterback was forced to use his legs. He then took off up the middle of the field and began slicing through Clemson’s defense. Shedding off arm tackles easily, somehow the Crimson Tide freshman diced up the Tigers all the way into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown:

You’d call that absolutely incredible from anyone. But to see it from a true freshman on this stage is unbelievable.

Then again, Alabama fans will tell you that Jalen Hurts has been anything but freshman-like throughout this entire season. So it only stands to reason that, even after a none-too-impressive overall game, he would come up in the clutch with an incredible play.
