Indiana Hoosiers star sophomore OG Anunoby took flight against the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night for a massive dunk

OG Anunoby was circled by many as a player to watch for the 2016-17 college basketball season. The Indiana Hoosiers sophomore broke out at the end of his first season in Bloomington, particularly with strong showings in the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA tourney. Loaded with potential in various aspects of his game, what stood supreme in Anunoby’s game was his unreal athleticism. Seemingly able to take off from anywhere and finish at the rim, he earned the reputation as a highlight in-waiting.

Unfortunately, the Hoosiers and Anunoby alike haven’t been quite as impressive as fans had hoped coming into the year. On Tuesday night, they traveled to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins, needing a win after a slow start to conference play. On that stage, Anunoby showed off his unfathomable athleticism—at the expense of Maryland defenders, of course.

The Hoosiers sophomore had his dribble around the left elbow extended and got his defender on his outside shoulder. Anunoby then took the ball to his right hand and made a beeline for the rim. Even when a pair of defenders stepped up to try and stop him, it wasn’t enough. Indiana’s star took off and soared both through and over the defenders for a titanic jam:

There are great athletes in college basketball right now. However, there aren’t many—if any—that can take flight and make a dunk like this one. Anunoby, without question, is a singular talent with what he brings to the table with his length and athleticism.

While the Hoosiers’ start to the season hasn’t been up to expectations, there’s still room to turn it around. Whenever you have a dynamic playmaker like Anunoby in addition to the likes of Thomas Bryant, the potential to garner momentum is there. Sadly for Indiana, that wasn’t to be on Tuesday night as the forward’s dunk wasn’t enough to help propel the Hoosiers to a win over the Terps.
