The 2017 MLS SuperDraft takes place Friday, Jan 13 in Los Angeles. Here’s a look at 10 of the most exciting prospects.

The 2017 MLS SuperDraft takes place Friday, Jan. 13 in Los Angeles. Throughout the week, over 60 college players will showcase their talent in front of all 22 MLS teams.

The league’s new expansion sides, Minnesota United FC and Atlanta United, hold the first and second pick in the draft, respectively.

There are a lot of talented players to choose from, but it’s difficult to say who’ll get picked when, especially since some players will see their value drop during the combine this week. Then there are the five graduates of the Generation adidas (GA) program. Because GA players’ salaries don’t count towards the cap, they tend to go early in the draft. In 2016, all five GA players went within the first 11 picks.

This year’s draft includes some exciting young players, some of which could make their USMNT debuts soon. Here’s a look at 10 prospects that stand out.

Jeremy Ebobisse

Jeremy Ebobisse is a hot commodity. The Duke forward looks destined for MLS (or, at least, USL) playing time next season.

Ebobisse left Duke right before his third year and signed an MLS contract before he was even drafted. This allowed him to gain professional experience with the USL’s Charleston Battery in late August, which already puts him ahead of a most of the other players in the 2017 draft.

While with the Battery, Ebobisse appeared in five matches, scoring once. He’s also been making a name for himself at the U-20 level for the United States, and has had trials at both Le Havre in France’s second division and TSG Hoffenheim in Germany’s Bundesliga.

Ebobisse has a lot of upside and would be a great player to mold into an everyday starting striker. Minnesota, who hold the first overall pick, have only two strikers on their current roster, so Ebobisse looks like a nice fit.
