Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday with both sides hoping to keep pace with the rest of the top six.
Jose Mourinho’s side perhaps hold a slight advantage at home, but the Reds have performed well this season against other top sides. United are currently in sixth place on 39 points and could pull within two points of third-place Liverpool with a win.
A loss for either team on Sunday wouldn’t be a total disaster. Yet, the top six of the Premier League is congested. Chelsea, currently first, have 52 points, and lead Tottenham in second by seven points. With a United win, however, the point difference between second and sixth will be three.
Liverpool are coming off two disappointing results after drawing in the FA Cup to Plymouth before losing the first leg of their EFL Cup semifinal against Southampton on Wednesday. A win will see them pull back within five points of Chelsea at the top of the table.

Sunday’s match will be aired in English and Spanish in the United States. NBSCN and Telemundo will show the entire match, while NBC will simulcast the match starting at 12 p.m. ET. The simulcast on NBC is due to the NFL playoff match between Kansas City and Pittsburgh being moved to primetime due to icy weather in the Kansas City area.
