Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe wound up failing miserably on an alley-oop attempt on MLK day.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is notorious for its NBA action.

Each year, the NBA televises many games nationally, including some of the best matchups the league has to offer. Coupled with Christmas Day, the two holidays act as a showcase for fans to see the greatest players in the world.

One game included in the MLK Day schedule was the Utah Jazz visiting the Phoenix Suns.

With Phoenix in the middle of a wretched 13-27 season, the Suns came out strong against one of the better teams in the Western Conference. The contest was very entertaining throughout, but one player stood out among the rest.

That man is Eric Bledsoe, and it wasn’t just for his stat-line.

With 10:30 remaining in the third quarter and the Suns up 57-50, Bledsoe came charging down court on a fastbreak. What happened next, definitely won’t appear in the MLK day highlight package.

Judging from the video, it looks like Bledsoe expected Suns rookie Marquese Chriss to be further along than he was. Despite the air-balled pass, Chriss was able to snag the rebound and his dunk attempt was just as poor as Bledsoe’s alley-oop.

To make matters worse, the Jazz had numbers on the back-end and converted an easy layup.

In the end, the Utah Jazz outlasted the Phoenix Suns 106-101 in a fantastic game.

Despite his gaffe, Eric Bledsoe was the star of the game, even in a losing effort. He led all scorers with 31 points and nearly notched a triple-double after finishing with nine assists and nine rebounds.

Phoenix fell to 13-28 with the loss and will almost certainly miss the postseason. On the other hand, Utah improved to 27-16 and holds the fifth seed in the Western Conference playoff picture.
