NBA FanDuel DFS Top 5 Plays of The Day for February 2nd 2017

After a night where we had a huge 12 game slate to play, tonight we only have four on this NBA FanDuel slate.  The good thing about tonight is all 4 games are slated to be high scoring.  The lowest total on the slate is Philadelphia at San Antonio with a total of 209.5.  The Lakers at Wizards is at 218.5, Hawks at Rockets is at 222, and the final game of the night has the highest total as the Warriors head south to take on the Clippers with a 224.5 total.  With game totals that high we could still see some great scores tonight.

The closest spread on the slate is the Warriors -8.5 over the Clippers followed closely by the Rockets as a 9 point favorite at home over the Hawks.  The Wizards are 11 points favorites and the Spurs are the biggest at 14.  On such a short slate, if you can nail which game blows out, you will be in a good position to make some money.  We will talk more about that in a bit but first let’s review last night.

I had a few things work really well and helped me have a decent night.  I paid up for Eric Bledsoe on my main tourney lineup and he did well scoring 51.8 FDP’s.  Isiah Thomas scored 56.3 FDP’s but he was $1,200 higher in cost so taking the savings with Bledsoe there worked out well.  Another thing that worked out really well was fading Carmelo Anthony.  He scored 17.6 FDP’s and I had a feeling the 3rd game in 4 nights would catch up to him, despite the awesome match-up.  He was highly owned in most formats so if you faded him you had a pretty good advantage over the rest of the field.  Tony Allen didn’t work out at all scoring only 11.6 FDP’s.

Norman Powell worked out in the sense that he was my cash game lock and ended up being over 90% owned, so his poor performance of 17 FDP’s didn’t really hurt.  Finally Mike Conley was neither good nor bad in scoring 31.3 FDP’s, but I did have him projected about 10 points higher.  On small slates like tonight  I mainly play GPP’s because a lot of the players will be highly owned.  I’ll be putting 80% of what I play in GPP’s and the other 20% in cash games.  Now let’s take a look at my top 5 plays for today.

NBA FanDuel – Top Player To Spend and Fade In GPP’s

Stephen Curry $9,600

Wow did this guy go off last night or what?  He scored 62 FDP’s on 39 real points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals…..and he did that in 30 MINUTES.  He was on fire and I wished I had paired him with Bledsoe.  I’m going back to the well again and attack the Clippers at the PG position.  This game is supposed to stay close, but even if it doesn’t you see what Curry can do in such a short period of time.  I’m willing to see if he can do it again tonight and make Curry one of my must haves on my main GPP lineup.

I can see him taking advantage of the Clippers tonight and get himself in that 50 FDP range.  There is a chance Curry will be highly owned because he’s cheaper than John Wall and people will be chasing the points he scored last night.  If that does happen, who you decide to pair him could help you separate yourself from the crowd.

Kawhi Leonard $10,100

There aren’t very many expensive options to fade tonight, but I’m picking Leonard for 3 reasons.  1. His price is up over 10k now and I think that has worn out his upside.  I get more upside from Curry and he is cheaper.  2. This match-up is good for his entire team.  He will not have to carry the load for the Spurs to win this game.  3.  If I had to pick one game to blow out tonight, it will be this one.  I know the 76ers have been playing well lately but the Spurs at home will be too much for a team missing its best player on the 2nd game of a back to back, and 3rd game in 4 nights.

We saw what happened to the Kings the other night, and also how bad that same situation affected the Knicks last night even though they got the win.  I think San Antonio rolls in this one and won’t need much from Leonard to do it.  Now let’s take a look at my cash game lock and GPP flier.

NBA FanDuel – Cash Game Lock and GPP Flier

Kevin Durant $10,700

Tonight in my cash games Durant is the first player I’m putting in.  He is coming off a down night scoring 40.6 FPD’s in 33 minutes, but I think he at least gets to his average of 46.8 tonight.  He has played well in the past against the Clippers in LA and tonight he should continue to see success there.

This is supposed to be the closest game on the slate and if it plays out that way Durant should have a real solid night.  I’ve talked about the Clippers getting lit up by PG’s lately, well the same goes for them at the SF position.  There are also plenty of cash game viable guys that help him fit so getting him in your roster shouldn’t be a problem.

Manu Ginobili $3,700

Like I said earlier, on a small slate you gotta take some risk and I’m taking it with Manu!  The 76ers have given up the 2nd most FDP’s to SG’s over the past couple weeks and I love Manu in this spot.  I think the game will blow out and Manu is one of the reasons that could happen.  If for some reason he sits, I will be locking in Jonathan Simmons at $3,600 at the small forward position.  If Manu does play I think he can get to 24 FDP’s before the game gets too far out of hand.

If the game happens to stay close, it will be an added bonus for his production.  Manu is also one of those cheap guys to help you take the stars and scrubs approach, which is the route I’m going today.  Now let’s take a look at my PayMaker and talk a little roster construction.

James Harden $12,000

I will have 100% James Harden tonight.  I know he is expensive, I know it will take 60 points minimum to make his price worth it, but I think tonight Harden is going to make it a point to stick it to Dwight Howard in his homecoming to Houston.  Dwight expressed his unhappiness with playing on the same team with Harden last year and on his first game back to Houston since signing with the Atlanta Hawks this past off-season Harden is gonna go off on him.

More from FanSided

He is averaging 53.3 FDP’s on the year so getting to 60 shouldn’t be out of his realm.  He has put up 2 stinkers in a row and I think he gets out of his funk tonight and shows Howard up.  Lock Harden in your lineups with confidence tonight, I think he has a huge night.

When it comes to roster construction tonight I’m leaning to stars and scrubs.  I have built some lineups with all 3 of Curry, Durant, and Harden in them and I’m not scared to roll those lineups out.  I will be using the cheap players in games I believe could blow out tonight in order to make those 3 fit.  I think the biggest winning margin tonight will be held by the Spurs so the bench players in that game are appealing to me.

If Manu plays I like him and if he sits I will turn to Jonathan Simmons and spend up a little at SG.  You can also play them both and really open things up.  Dedmon is another cheap Spur that can really be a salary relief.  Also don’t forget about the Mo Speights revenge game as he welcomes the Warriors to Los Angeles, he’s another guy you can play to make the more expensive players fit.  I’ll be back tomorrow to tackle the slate for Friday!  Good Luck everyone!
