President Donald Trump congratulated Tom Brady and the rest of the New England Patriots on their Super Bowl 51 victory.

For the fifth time in seven Super Bowl appearances, the New England Patriots came away victorious. At halftime of Super Bowl 51 the game looked over. However, Tom Brady helped lead the Patriots in the second half and overtime to win on Sunday. President Donald Trump took to Twitter to congratulate Brady, Bill Belichick, and the rest of the team moments after.

It was a rough first half for the Patriots and their fans. The Falcons were dominating on all fronts and looked poised to win the Super Bowl LI. As a result, many Patriots fans had left Super Bowl parties early and turned off the channel prematurely. This included President Trump who headed out from his Super Bowl party at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The Patriots were down 25 points. It’s understandable while President Trump left his party early. While it would have been great to be present at his estate during over time, Trump was already on his way back to the White House. In the end, Trump most likely still saw the game-winning drive and most of the game. After all, he’s the President of the United States and has many luxuries in his vehicles.

Overall, it shouldn’t be shocking that Trump congratulated the Patriots. He’s good friends with Brady and others within the Patriots organization. The Patriots will most likely be the first champion to visit the White House during Trump’s tenure. It’s only fitting that President Obama’s last visit from a sports team was the Chicago Cubs and Trump’s first visit from a sports team should be the Patriots.
