adidas Football Just Released The “Uncaged Cheetah” adizero 5-Star 40 Cleats

Now that the sheer horror of Super Bowl LI is over and the Patriots — except for Bill Belichick — will presumably be celebrating their glorious gift from the Atlanta Falcons right up until training camp, it’s time to discuss the 2017 NFL Combine.

And thank god for that, because I flat-out refuse to continually discuss Atlanta’s choice to pass the ball on two straight downs while in field goal territory that would’ve iced the game.

Seriously, I’m ready to discuss golf at this point.

But lucky for us, the NFL Combine is just a little over two weeks away so it allows us to shift our focus, as it starts on Tuesday, February 28.

That’s the day where emotionally twisted NFL team executives begin their bizarre and quite insane player interviews:

If youI had to murder someone, would you use a gun or a knife?

Just great stuff, but the real fun begins on Friday, March 3, when college football players will be looking to post their best times in the 40-yard dash and ideally break the internet in doing so.

That’s where adidas heroically comes in to play with their new “Uncaged Cheetah” adizero 5-Star 40 cleats, the undisputed lightest cleat in the game.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Von Miller already has a pair of these and probably wears them around the house while doing odd chores.

He might even have an extra pair to wear as extravagant earrings. You just never know with Teflon Von.

Here’s some background details from adidas on the cleat design, which was specifically created with the 40-yard dash in mind.

"Inspired by the fastest animal on the planet and crafted for the fastest players on turf, the Uncaged Cheetah adizero 5-Star 40 cleats are designed for athletes who want to showcase their style while attempting to break land speed records.Weighing in at only 4.8 ounces, aerodynamic and featuring a high-definition, digitally printed Cheetah pattern, the Uncaged Cheetah adizero 5-Star 40 cleats are specifically created for the 40-yard dash.Constructed from an ultra-lightweight, yet extremely strong fiber, the SPRINTSKIN Ultra upper is engineered to provide reinforcement only in key support zones for elite performance. The upper sits atop a SPRINTFRAME football plate with strategically placed SPRINTSTUDS designed to provide peak performance and acceleration for the 40-yard dash."

This is specialization at its absolute finest.

Here’s a few more looks at the cleat.

Knowing how much college football players love alternate uniform options — remember those Louisville beauties? — they’ll no doubt be all over these.

If it were me, I’d show up for the 40-yard in a matching fur coat because you gotta properly set the tone at these things.

Although a coach like Bill Belichick — sitting in the stands with piercing focus and his handy stopwatch — would loathe such flashy showmanship. But whatever, some risks are worth taking.

Yup, if adidas were to turn this one into a sneaker, I would likely wear them on special occasions of equal importance to that of the NFL Combine.

The cleats will retail for $150 and are now available at adidasEastbay, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
