I mean, Cowboys fans can dream, right?

Former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is the kind of talent worth taking No. 1 overall in this year’s NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys could desperately use someone to wreak havoc off the edge, and having a hometown guy would be the icing on the cake.

There’s just one problem: the Cowboys pick 28th in Round 1. But that hasn’t stopped Garrett from making his case to wear the star as a pro.

Though his tongue seems to be at least partially in cheek, you can see Garrett asking Jerry Jones to package Tony Romo and draft picks to move up to the top spot and select him:

Pretty funny, right? And no doubt the Cowboys would love to have Garrett. But is it even semi-realistic?

Not really. According to the trade value pick at WalterFootball, the Browns’ first pick overall is worth 3000 points. The Cowboys’ first rounder is worth 660 points. Even packaging all of their 2017 picks together isn’t enough to make up the difference.

We could, of course, throw next year’s first-rounder in there too, but since the Cowboys can realistically expect to be good in 2017, the Browns wouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) assign too high a value to that pick either. Given his age and recent injury history, Romo also wouldn’t warrant that much on the trade value chart.

Plus there’s the simple fact that the Browns, who admittedly need help at tons of positions, already have two top-12 picks. They’d be well-served to just make those two selections count.

So while we’re not saying it’s impossible for Garrett to end up in Dallas, we’re confident that he’s much more likely to find himself in Cleveland. Sorry Myles — and all you Cowboys fans too.
