Despite all of the trade rumors involving Carmelo Anthony going to the Cleveland Cavaliers, it appears the deal is dead. Here are a few trades he should consider waiving his no-trade clause for.

The drama surrounding where the New York Knicks may trade Carmelo Anthony never seems to die down. Two teams that seem like possibilities are the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers. Both teams can clearly benefit from the addition of Melo. His presence could be the difference between them simply being a playoff team and a solid championship contender. They’re also teams that Anthony has implied waive his no-trade clause for.

Another team that seems like a strong possibility is the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James has not been shy about expressing his feelings about the team needing more. He feels that they could use another playmaker to lighten the workload for Kyrie Irving and himself. However, a player of Carmelo’s caliber would make Cleveland a stronger threat to challenge that juggernaut known as the Golden State Warriors.

With all of the talk about where Carmelo may go, it seems like a lot of people are ignoring other teams that he could potentially go to. After all, the aforementioned teams aren’t the only ones that are playoff-caliber clubs. However, it may be difficult to trade him to one of those teams since Melo can simply veto the deal. With that being said, let’s take a look at five trades that makes sense even if it’s unlikely Melo would agree to them.
