Former NFL and Alabama Crimson Tide running back, Trent Richardson, was arrested today and booked on charges of domestic violence.

WBRC Fox 6 News reported that the police arrived at the Hyatt Place Hotel where the alleged crime took place and found an adult female who had scratches on her face as well as bruises. There are also reports of the female and Richardson arguing at a Wal-Mart earlier on in the day and it continued all the way back to the hotel.

Richardson is a former standout running back at the University of Alabama. He rushed for 1,679 yards and 21 touchdowns leading the Crimson Tide to the 2011 BCS National Championship. His achievements on the field enabled him to get drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Richardson’s career started off strong rushing for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie. Things were looking up for this up-and-coming running back. His sophomore campaign didn’t begin well, though. He was then dealt to the Indianapolis Colts for their first-round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

With the Colts, Richardson failed to live up to his first-round expectations. He only rushed for 458 yards and three touchdowns before amassing 519 yards and three touchdowns in year two. After a pair disappointing seasons, the Colts ended up releasing Richardson. He has bounced around the NFL since.

At this juncture, it would appear Richardson has much larger concerns than finding his way back onto an NFL field.
