Daytona 500 qualifying takes place on Sunday, Feb. 19 starting at 3:10 p.m. Find out all the details to tune in below.

The Advance Auto Parts Clash didn’t go off as planned Saturday night, but it will run Sunday morning. Then the attention of the NASCAR  world will shift to the first qualifying session of the 2017 season, one that just so happens to be for stock car racing’s biggest spectacle: the Daytona 500. This event continues what will be a busy week of racing.

This year Daytona 500 qualifying will use the old qualifying format. This means that only one car will be on the track at once and have two timed laps. For a race like Daytona 500, NASCAR’s decision to use the old format vs. the new format makes sense.

No one will get knocked out by another car due to an action during qualifying. Sunday’s qualifying session only determines the front row for the Daytona 500. The rest of the starting grid for the Daytona 500 will be determined the Can-Am Duel on Thursday night.

Last year, Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 pole, but don’t expect him to repeat as the pole winner. The last time a NASCAR driver won the Great American Race pole in back-to-back years was Sterling Marlin in 1993 and 1994. Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough are the only other two drivers to earn the pole in consecutive years.
