Twitter exploded when the news of Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans broke on Sunday night.

A stunner has turned the NBA upside down on Sunday night. With the All-Star Game over, teams have wasted no times getting to action via the trade market. The Sacramento Kings have pulled the trigger and finally traded center DeMarcus Cousins.

The New Orleans Pelicans are the lucky beneficiaries of a deal that includes Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, a first-round pick and a second-round pick. In what seems like a completely underwhelming offer, Twitter absolutely melted down over the deal.

No one in their right mind could believe that was actually all it took to acquire a player like Cousins. Nonetheless, the Kings made the move and now Cousins will join Anthony Davis in what should be an amazing front court.

While this deal is absolutely mind boggling, it’s hard not to think of the potential for the Pelicans. They have finally went out and got legitimate talent to surround Davis and now they have a front court that could make huge moves in the Western Conference.

The Pelicans were in danger of becoming a lot like the Kings and not having stars to surround their star big man. This deal will forever go down in history simply for what the Pelicans were able to acquire him for.

As for Kings fans, this is rough and not going to be easy to get over for a long time. They traded their franchise center for what seems like a minimal package and now have to embrace the rebuild yet again.
