Charles Oakley will be watching the Knicks play live for the first time on Thursday night since the infamous MSG incident

Earlier this month, the New York Knicks were embroiled in one of the more embarrassing incidents in quite some time in the NBA. Back on Feb. 8, not long after a game inside MSG started, Knicks legend Charles Oakley got into a scuffle at his seat with team security, a seat that just so happened to be right by team owner James Dolan. It took basically an army to get the big man enforcer away from his seat, and frankly, things got weirder from there. Oakley was taken to jail, charged and eventually was banned from Madison Square Garden by Dolan.

Since then, the two have made up — sort of. They had a meeting with commissioner Adam Silver that included Michael Jordan chipping in to be peacemaker. After the meeting, the ban on Oakley was somewhat lifted, as Dolan noted that he would love to have the New York basketball legend back inside the arena some day.

Oakley has not been back there to see the team as of yet, but he will be watching them live on Thursday night for the first time since the early February incident.

The Knicks are taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road Thursday night as the recent All-Star break comes to a close, and according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Oakley has told him that he will be sitting inside Quicken Loans Arena to watch his former team for the first time since they booted him from their home venue in front of thousands.

It should definitely be noted here, just as in the ESPN report, that Oakley is from Cleveland originally and has attended Cavaliers games in the past. However, you simply can’t ignore just how fitting it is that the next Cavaliers game that he takes in just so happens to be the first time that he will be watching the Knicks in person since everything went down a few weeks ago.

Now is the time where you can start setting the Over/Under on how many times they’ll be showing Oakley on camera, as the game will be broadcast live on TNT at 8:00 p.m. ET.
