2017 NFL Mock Draft: Bears tap Deshaun Watson
By Brad Weiss
The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the best teams in the AFC this past season, as they won the very competitive AFC West. Kansas City did it on both sides of the ball, as quarterback Alex Smith once again proved he can win games during the regular season. The problem with Smith is his inability to win games in the postseason, and that may eventually be the downfall of he and head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City.
For now, the Chiefs seem fine with Smith being their starter, although they may have to spend a late draft pick to bolster the position. While the team plans to bring back Eric Berry on defense, it is very possible that nose tackle Dontari Poe has played his last game for the Chiefs. If that is the case, the Chiefs need to bring in his replacement, and Caleb Brantley of Florida man be just what they need moving forward.
Brantley is a terrific defensive lineman, who showed during his time at Florida that he is key at stopping the run. In order for the Chiefs to stay atop the AFC West, they need to continue to do what they do best, and that is stopping the other team from putting together long drives. Kansas City is going to be very good once again in 2017, and with a player like Brantley along the defensive line, their defense should not skip a beat.
