2. Wide Receiver

The needs the Rams will look to address on defense are more related to filling out the depth and finding players who fit the scheme. In contrast, the needs that the Rams have on the offensive side of the ball will need to be big additions that take up the majority of their resources. Wide Receiver is the perfect example.

The Rams have Tavon Austin, Pharoh Cooper, and Nelson Spruce as options who have contributed, even in small doses. However, Cooper is a slot receiver, Austin a gadget player and Spruce is a depth possession guy at best. Brian Quick and Kenny Britt are free agents, and while they would rank one and two on the depth chart if retained, the Rams need to use these spots to upgrade the position rather than retain.

If they are looking for the big name to give the unit a spark, they will be looking at Alshon Jeffery. He would be a great outside threat that would open things up for Cooper and Austin over the middle. DeSean Jackson would be another guy who can take the top off and create space. These are big name players, and if the Rams miss on them they can look for Michael Floyd or Vincent Jackson as receivers who can fill in the same role.
