Twitter exploded with hot takes after Goldberg defeated Kevin Owens with ease in the main event of WWE Fastlane.
After over 13 years, Goldberg is a champion in the WWE once again. In what was a rather strange main event between Goldberg and Kevin Owens, the legendary wrestler defeated the champ with the greatest of ease after a distraction from Chris Jericho. It felt like the match was never going to start as Owens kept stalling.
Every time it looked like the match was finally going to begin, Owens would take a stroll around the ring. By the time he finally did get in the ring, Jericho’s music hit and it distracted Owens into turning around into a spear. One jackhammer later and Goldberg won the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Fastlane.
The match didn’t last that long and Owens walking around the ring prolonged the buildup. While some probably would have preferred an actual match, Jericho kept that from happening with his well-timed distraction. After the main event, Twitter exploded with hot takes about the match and the new champion.
Like, seriously; does Lesnar/Goldberg 3 need to be for the title? #WWEFastlane

#wwefastlane So it's been 14 years and in that time Goldberg still didn't learn ring performance and still needs these short matches, lame

Not mad Goldberg won or even how he won. Just mad at the reasoning behind it

When it comes to the topic of part-time wrestlers holding the belt, it’s always a contentious one. Owens fought hard to earn the title and now will have to work his way back to winning it again down the line.

The good news for him is that he gets to enter a program in all likelihood with Jericho. That is a match that should be one of the best of the year. Now, Goldberg will defend his new title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and people are on the fence about it.
