Kristaps Porzingis made a valiant effort at the rim Monday night, but Orlando Magic center Bismack Biyombo baptized him with a monster two-handed dunk.

Kristaps Porzingis may be the future face of one of the most prominent, big-city franchises in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean he’s exempt from being on the wrong end of a poster from time to time.

With the New York Knicks visiting the Orlando Magic Monday night, point guard D.J. Augustin found Bismack Biyombo rolling to the basket out of a first quarter pick-and-roll. Biyombo caught the bounce pass in stride and raised up with only Porzingis between him and the basket.

What happened next was highlight-worthy material.

To be fair, Porzingis actually got his hand on the ball, using that 7’3″ length of his to contest the shot. Against a less athletic or less strong player, he might have recorded a block.

Instead, Biyombo just physically wills the ball into the basket for the two-handed slam to put his team up 14.

Though his four-year, $72 million contract was a massively inflated contract for Orlando, Biyombo has his moments in a crowded frontcourt. He’s mostly been an overpaid backup though, averaging 6.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game.

However, he’s still only 24 years old, and if the Magic ever clear out room in a frontcourt that includes Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic, perhaps he’ll be able to build on his potential. The Serge Ibaka trade has freed up more time for him, but you have to wonder if Orlando will be okay with one of their marquee free agency signings being an overpaid backup for the next three years.

At the end of the third quarter, the Magic were only up seven. Biyombo had seven points, 12 rebounds and one block entering the final frame, while Porzingis had tacked on 14 points and six rebounds.
