According to Kirk Mitchell of the Denver Post, a bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Sacramento Kings guard, Ty Lawson.

Lawson was ordered to a year of probation back on Mar. 22, 2016. In this probation hearing, he was given community service and was order to stay away from drugs and alcohol for the duration of the probation. He was also mandated to do 52 hours of therapy as well. The bench warrant has been issued for Lawson because he failed three alcohol tests while playing for the Kings. These tests came on Sep. 27, Sep. 29 and Feb. 2, according to Mitchell.

The reason that Lawson was on probation, and why he broke his probation, was because of alcohol. He has been busted three times prior to the most recent failed alcohol tests. The first was when he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was drinking and driving and he wasn’t even 21-years old yet.

Lawson was then arrested twice in 2015. He was arrested in Colorado in January of that year and then again in California in July. Now he is going to be arrested again after failing not one, not two, but three alcohol tests.

This really is a sad road for such a talented NBA player. Lawson had so much potential but he is getting in the way of a good career. Having this now be his fourth time having an issue with drinking is an issue. I am glad he wasn’t driving this time at least.

Lawson, who once averaged 17.6 points and 8.8 assists per game in the NBA, will now need to get help as he will have to turn himself into authorities. Hopefully, this is a wake-up call for a talented player to get his life back in order once and for all.
