Dirk Nowitzki got a potato in the mail from a fan.

Athletes tend to get some very weird requests from fans. People send them things in the mail expecting them to sign them and send them back. However, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki got perhaps the strangest, yet most amazing, item in the mail from a huge fan. The fan in question sent him a personalized potato. Not only that, the potato has Dirk’s picture on it.

It’s phenomenal to think how a fan could even get his picture on a potato. Better yet, how did he or she even think of putting Dirk’s picture on a potato? Is this person a potato enthusiast? Since the address is in California, one can assume the person isn’t from Idaho, but that can’t rule anything out.

Dirk has some pretty passionate fans, and rightfully so. He’s practically a cult hero in Dallas, as he’s helped the team win the NBA Finals. Dirk is to this day one of the best shooting big men to ever play the game. He’s forever changed how people view forwards and centers. Dirk pretty much invented the concept of a stretch four who can hit long jumpers and threes.

Over his likely Hall of Fame career, he’s averaged 21.8 points per game. Dirk has averaged 1.3 three pointers made per game while attempting 3.3 per game. He also has 7.8 rebounds per game and has always been an underrated defender. In the postseason, Dirk has over 25 points a game, including over 27 during the Mavericks title run in 2011.

He seems to be the kind of guy who would appreciate the potato. Athletes can get some weird stuff, but a potato? That has to be the best thing anyone has gotten in the mail.
