Dion Waiters has ‘Philly cheese swag’ because of course
Every basketball player takes something from where they grew up and puts it into their game. Things like the superb handles of New York City point guards. Or the fearless mentality Damian Lillard got from the Oakland courts he grew up on. Or the “Philly cheese swag” that Dion Waiters learned from his hometown.
What exactly is Philly cheese swag? No one but Dion Waiters knows. But whatever it is Waiters seems to love it. And he gives it credit for his greatest contribution to basketball, his pose after beating the Warriors earlier this season.
"“That’s just that Philly cheese swag,” Waiters told The Vertical. “Now, everybody see me, they do the pose.”"
That line comes from a magnificent profile by Michael Lee over at The Vertical. The piece touches on Waiters rise to semi-stardom in Miami and how he ended up with the Heat, but nothing sticks out more than Philly cheese swag.
And it raises a few more questions.
Do players with Philly cheese swag have cheese running through their veins in clutch moments or is it still ice water? Is cheese swag contagious? Do any of the other players from Philly in the NBA have this type of swag? Are you born with Philly cheese swag or do you earn it? If it is earned, how exactly is it earned? How long has Dion Waiters been sitting on the phrase? Will he try and get some endorsement deals out of it? How great would Dion Waiters endorsed Cheese-Wiz be? How have we not gotten more Dion Waiters profiles?
But there is one question that sticks out above them all.

How long is it until we get a t-shirt of the Waiters pose with “Philly cheese swag” underneath it? And how do I get one of those shirts for free. Because this needs to happen. And soon. Dion Waiters has earned that much.
