Bournemouth beat Swansea 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, March 18. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Bournemouth were hardly at their best against Swansea at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, but ran out deserved 2-0 winners after match short on clear cut chances.

The Cherries, who have pulled away from the relegation zone after picking up four points in their last two matches, could be forgiven for a slightly flat performance, while Swansea were justified in a more cautious approach. Their improved form under Paul Clement has owed much to increased defensive resilience, so there was no real need to change the formula here.

The only goal of the first half came after a 30 hour, before there had been a single shot on target. Benik Afobe found himself in space at the top of Swansea’s box. His shot appeared to be going wide, but took a big deflection of Alfie Mawson on its way past Lukas Fabianski.

The second half followed a similar pattern, though Swansea began to assert control after a series of attacking substitutions. The space that afforded Bournemouth on the break, however, proved costly. Afobe doubled his side’s lead in the 71st minute after collecting an excellent pass from Josh King.

Bournemouth’s weak defense has proved costly at times this season, but they stood up well here under a not inconsiderable amount of pressure. Their top flight status is now surely all but confirmed.
