Following the massive controversy over the weekend regarding the leaked Paige video featuring Xavier Woods, WWE handled it expertly on RAW

It had been a minute since WWE had faced a big controversy involving one of their currently employed in-ring talents. However, that changed in a massive way over the weekend unfortunately. Though she hasn’t been in the ring in quite some time due to injury, explicit photos and videos of former Divas Champions and former NXT Women’s Champion Paige were leaked online.

Paige released a statement on the matter soon after the leak started to become widespread. She was a victim of a hack and clearly a victim in the situation as her private material was stolen and exposed—no matter what the nature of the material was. However, she wasn’t alone in this as one of the videos also showed Xavier Woods as at least a participant in some of Paige’s exploits.

In the case of Woods, the big question was how WWE would handle him being seen in the leak. After all, since New Day is the host of WrestleMania 33, they couldn’t rightly take him fully off TV. So there was a lot of uncertainty about what they would do.

Perhaps more shocking than anything about this story, WWE handled it masterfully on Monday’s episode of RAW from Brooklyn, NY. The cameras cut to New Day backstage where Woods was situated between Big E and Kofi. They were both giving him side-eye when Big E asked if there was anything he wanted to tell them about:

Slyly, Woods remained silent for a moment before shouting “WrestleMania” and continuing on with a promo about the upcoming event.

Honestly, it seemed as if WWE was in a lose-lose situation with Woods coming into RAW. If they mentioned the Paige video controversy outright, it would be a bad look for their brand. However, not acknowledging it even at all or pulling Woods off of TV would’ve been asinine and cowardly. This, however, was exactly what they should do. Hint at it, get a quick laugh and then move on. Well done.
