The Pokemon GO team has announced another limited-time event for the mobile game, this time with a focus on water-type Pokemon.

“There’s a global Water Festival in progress, and Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and friends are looking forward to celebrating with you!” reads the update on the Pokemon GO website.

Starting today, all water-type Pokemon of any evolution have a higher spawn rate. This means if you’ve still been unable to get that Blastoise, now is your chance. This also means that those who don’t live near water will have a chance to flesh out that portion of the Pokedex.

The announcement made sure to include the fact that rarer water-type Pokemon are not out of the question.

"Additionally, when you’re out exploring areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear, you’ll have a greater chance to encounter several of the Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, and maybe… you might even encounter Lapras."

An avatar item — the Magikarp hat — will be added to the game in honor of the Water Festival, so your Pokemon trainer can be appropriately attired.

But perhaps the most exciting update to the game is something not mentioned in the official update. According to Kotaku, a patch is being added to the game that will guarantee the drop of an evolution item from PokeStops if a seven-day PokeStop streak is reached. This is a change that will make all Pokemon GO players happy, given the paltry drop rate up until now.

The Water Festival will run until March 29.
