25 best Pac-12 football players of the last 25 years
8. Terrell Suggs, DE, Arizona State
With arguably the most dominant season ever by a Pac-12 defender on his resume, Suggs earns a spot in the top 10.
After being born in Minneapolis, Suggs moved to Arizona and bounced between high schools as a star player on both sides of the ball. A high school All-American and top 100 recruit in the nation, Suggs stayed in-state to play for Dirk Koetter and the Sun Devils in 2000.
Suggs made an impact right away as the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year with 48 tackles, including 16 for loss, and a team-high 10 sacks. The 6-3, 265 pound left end was nearly unblockable as a sophomore, when he piled up another 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.
That was nothing compared to 2002, as Suggs recorded an NCAA single-season record 24 sacks, and 32.5 tackles for loss to set numerous school records. Suggs was named a consensus All-American and swept just about every possible award, including Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The Baltimore Ravens selected Suggs 10th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft and he has turned in a terrific career at the next level as a two-time All-Prop and all-time leader in sacks for the franchise.
