23. Lawyer Milloy, S, Washington

Washington’s dynasty under Don James came to an end in the mid-90s, but Milloy stands out as one of the bright spots of the era for the program as a tremendously productive safety.

After being born in St. Louis, Milloy moved to Tacoma and excelled in three different sports at Lincoln High School and played multiple positions in football. With over 1,000 rushing yards and seven interceptions as a senior, Milloy was named a high school All-American, and accepted scholarships to play both football and baseball at Washington.

The 6-0, 211-pound safety became an instant success in 1993, becoming the only sophomore to earn All Pac-10 honors with 106 tackles. Milloy led the team in tackles for the second consecutive year with 115 stops in 1994, in addition to three forced fumbles and an interception.

In his final season with the Huskies, Milloy was named a unanimous first-team All-American and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in America. Milloy also helped the Huskies to the College World Series in 1994, and he was drafted by both the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers during his time with Washington.

The New England Patriots selected Milloy in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft, and he turned in a strong 15-year career that included a nomination to the Hall of Fame in 2015.
