Ketel One Honors Arnold Palmer’s Legacy at Bay Hill Invitational

In the history of modern sports as we know it, you’d be hard-pressed to find a man who had a better life than Arnold Palmer did.

From pioneering how we consume sports on television, to creating what we now know as sports marketing, to creating annuities for older PGA Tour Stars on the Champion’s Tour,  Mr. Palmer accomplished a tremendous amount in his 87 years on earth.

In addition, Mr. Palmer was a spokesman for many brands including Hertz, Pennzoil and most recently Xarelto, but he had a particular fondness for Ketel One Vodka, who took the time to celebrate their relationship in grand fashion.

Last week at his home in Orlando, where he built the Bay Hill Resort and hosted his own tournament, the vibe surrounding the area was a combination of nostalgia, somberness and celebration. It was the first year without Mr. Palmer and everyone felt his loss.

According to a press release from Ketel One, Carl Nolet Jr., President & CEO of Nolet Spirits USA, recalled that Mr. Palmer once watched him sign bottles of Ketel One for consumers. Mr. Palmer asked, “How would someone know this is your signature five years from now?”

This was vintage Palmer, who meticulously made sure to sign all of his autographs in perfect handwriting because he believed signing something meaningful for others is a privilege.

It’s a lasting memory people have of Mr. Palmer.

Ketel One also announced that in honor of Mr. Palmer’s generosity and dedication to bettering the lives of those around him, they have made a commitment to donating $100,000 to Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation, which provides support to institutions and organizations benefitting the environment as well as the communities in which we live.

It was a meaningful offering that honored the life of one of sports greatest figures. Even if you’re not a fan of golf, Mr. Palmer transcended the game and his impact is felt directly or indirectly in all of sports.

Simply put, it was a proper tribute honoring an amazing, long-lasting relationship.
