Last night, we witnessed a game that should get everyone excited for the playoffs.

This game last night was a battle. Not only did the Spurs jump out to a big lead, but they managed to lose it very quickly. The final score was 110-98 and the Warriors were able to get the win, essentially locking up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Here are three important takeaways from the game.

The role players are very important

What is a successful team without their role players? Not very much considering the Spurs are basically built around them. Danny Green, the Spurs starting shooting guard, put up 16 points in a losing effort and shot an outstanding 67 percent from 3-point land. It is very interesting to watch the dynamic that the Spurs have going on at their center position.

Right now, they’re splitting minutes between Pau Gasol and Dewayne Dedmon and it is working. Dedmon is well versed on the defensive end of the ball, while Gasol is a better offensive center. Both add their own respective skill sets to the team when needed. One question that the Spurs have right now is at the point guard position. They’re currently splitting minutes between Patty Mills and the aging Tony Parker. Neither of these guys looks too prepared for the playoffs. Mills scored 6 points and had 2 rebounds and Parker had one rebound and 2 assists. Now the Spurs don’t need their point guard to score, but rather spread the ball around which neither point guard did very well last night.

The Warriors had their bench/role players perfectly in tune last night. Andre Iguodala scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds off of the bench. David West chipped in 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists in 21 minutes last night. West was able to step in Draymond Green’s place and mix in without missing a beat. The Warriors are starting to rely on their bench play a little bit more and they have good reason to. Their bench is good.

Deficits mean nothing to the Warriors

During the first quarter of last night’s game, Warriors’ fans probably started to get a little bit worried. Golden State trailed 29-7 with 3:29 left in the first quarter last night. Then the Warriors really turned it on. After falling behind by 22 points, they outscored the Spurs 103-69. That is an insane turnaround. The Warriors were obviously still trying to feel out the game because they shot 12-22 from beyond the arc once they started to mount their comeback. They totaled 30 assists and shot 57 percent from the field. The Spurs, on the other hand, scored 69 points while shooting 38.1 percent and a mediocre 4-of-16 from deep. Obviously, the Warriors had the Spurs right where they wanted them. Over the past three seasons, the Warriors are actually 3-0 when they are trailing by more than 15 points.

The playoffs can’t come soon enough

If this was a potential Finals matchup, the playoffs can’t come any faster. Even though these two teams are going to have their fair share of challenges, they are going to be the favorites to reach the Western Conference Finals. Kawhi Leonard had yet another MVP-type performance, chipping in 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were both lights out shooting last night. Curry shot 50 percent on 3-pointers and Thompson shot 44 percent. Those two could not be stopped. Draymond Green didn’t do much in the box score but you really had to watch the game last night to see Green’s impact. He was crucial to the Warriors success on the defensive end. Guarding LeMarcus Aldridge is no easy task, but he was able to get the job done.

These two teams don’t look to be slowing down, which means that they are ready for the playoffs. Hopefully, these two meet in the Western Conference Finals because it would be an incredible matchup.
