The New Day opened up the show as the hosts of WWE WrestleMania 33, but came out dressed as characters from the Final Fantasy video game

It’s no real secret that The New Day are quite the eccentric trio. When it comes to the three-man stable of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E, their weirdness and quirkiness is actually a big part of what makes them so appealing to fans. They’re unlike any group or any singular person throughout the entire rest of the company. Thus, it was an easy choice to allow them to host WWE WrestleMania 33.

One of their interests and hobbies that set them apart a bit—Xavier Woods, mostly—is their love for gaming. Woods famously has his own gaming YouTube channel, UpUpDownDown. And it’s not just one type of game—the guy just loves video games and wants to play them with his friends. So it was only fitting that they tied their quirks together for WrestleMania 33.

New Day opened the show in Orlando, coming out to introduce the show to the crowd at the Citrus Bowl. When they did, though, the trio came out dressed as characters from the Final Fantasy video game series. Big E entered the stadium dressed as the Samurai, Xavier Woods dressed as the Monk, and then Kofi as the Red Mage:

Per a WWE press release, the New Day’s choice to come out dressed as the Final Fantasy characters comes in light of their partnership with Square Enix, the developer of the series.

They couldn’t have picked a better group to do this. New Day is the only group that could pull this off and they obviously went headfirst into the garb. Frankly, they may just be born to be WrestleMania hosts. If only it weren’t for the fact that they’re also great in the ring.
