Richard Sherman trade rumors: 5 best fits
By Noah Torr
3. Green Bay Packers
The Packers defense is about as mediocre as it gets. Just like the Cowboys, they are not very good when it comes to pass defense. But if you want to talk about their run defense, they only allowed about 94 yards per game, which is top five in the league.
They did lose their best corner, Sam Shields, when they released him back in February after he was charged with possession of marijuana. Shields had been on injury reserve most of the year after being sidelined with a concussion since the first week of the season. Still, he leaves large shoes to fill. The team was exposed badly in the playoffs by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game.
Sherman can help the Packers through their retooling phase. They’re not looking to scrap the whole system, just a few of the weaker components of it. The addition of Sherman with their young safety, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (who has already shown flashes of stardom), can be a lethal pairing. The one issue that the Packers will have is money. Sherman has a hefty contract and the Packers aren’t looking to spend elite money to gain an elite talent.
