The way-too-early Vegas odds for the 2018 Men’s Basketball National Championship have Kentucky as slight favorites over other blue bloods.

North Carolina may have just won the men’s basketball National Championship last night, but it’s never too early to look ahead to next season. According to Vegas Insiders, Kentucky has the best chance to cut down the nets next year at 10/1 odds. Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Villanova and Gonzaga are all right behind at 12/1.

It’s easy to see why Vegas is rolling with Kentucky. Even though coach John Calipari is losing arguably his two best players to the NBA draft, Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox, he’ll be reloading once again with another top recruiting class. This class includes four 5-star players, with top 15 prospect P.J. Washington heading the class. As is the case every year, coach Cal doesn’t rebuild, he reloads.

Obviously, a lot can change between now and the start of the season, but it’s fun to look ahead and speculate what’s going to happen. UNC could easily find their way back to the championship next year as well, and as we saw this year, never count out Gonzaga.

It will be interesting to see which team(s) from outside the early favorites can make a splash next season, too. Michigan State and Arizona both sit at 20/1 odds. If you really want to go for a big pay day though, how about Missouri at 300/1? Cuonzo Martin has already snagged the top recruit for next season. You never know!
