CBS, Fox, and NBC have already expressed interest in adding Tony Romo as a commentator.Â
After the emergence of Dak Prescott for the Cowboys last season, Tony Romo was set to become a free agent for the first time in his NFL career. It turns out he will be a free agent. However, it won’t be as a quarterback, but rather as a commentator. Romo is expected to announce his retirement, and he will reportedly join the broadcast booth. CBS, Fox and NBC are expressing interest in adding them to the commentary crew, according to ESPN.
"Romo has received interest from CBS, Fox and NBC, and can choose to be a color commentator where he wants. That move could come as early as Tuesday, sources said. But the decision to leave football already has been made. His run as the Cowboys’ quarterback — and an NFL player — officially ends Tuesday."
He has long been linked to CBS, potentially as a replacement for Phil Simms. Romo’s career comes to a rather tragic end. After setting many Dallas Cowboys franchise records, injuries caused him to lose his job to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. Rather than try to play another season and join another team, Romo has elected to retire.
His career has been an unpredictable one. Joining the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, Romo is their franchise leader in various categories. He leads them in passing yards and touchdown passes. Among Cowboys quarterbacks with at least 17 games, Romo has the highest passer rating.

While he will have to live with never winning a Super Bowl, just being in the NFL is something he should be proud of. No one guessed Romo would be arguably the Cowboys best quarterback of all-time. The odds were against him, but he proved a lot of people wrong. Perhaps including himself.
