The Kansas City Chiefs have recently brought in quarterback Patrick Mahomes for a pre-draft visit.

The Chiefs recently brought in top quarterback prospect Deshaun Watson for a visit.  Now they are doing their homework on two more quarterbacks in this year’s NFL Draft.

It’s officially draft season when you have fans spotting players on their way to pre-draft visits. The Chiefs haven’t exactly been stealthy about their quarterback interests in this draft. They have reportedly met with all of these players and more prior to bringing them into Kansas City for official interviews.

Patrick Mahomes has quickly become the draft darling at the quarterback position and reportedly leads all draft prospects in team visits with 18 total official visits. The Texas Tech product is an intriguing prospect because of his natural arm strength. Teams will likely have to take some time to get him up to speed as far as reading NFL blitzes and his mechanics are concerned.

For the Chiefs, taking a prospect that needs some time to develop shouldn’t be a problem. Alex Smith can be a stop-gap that can at the very least keep the team competitive until a replacement is groomed.

The Chiefs additionally brought in Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer recently for a visit, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Kizer is another intriguing quarterback prospect for the Chiefs. He was recently in the headlines because his former head coach Brian Kelly claimed that he was not ready for the NFL and needed more time to grow as a football player.

The former Golden Domer is an early entrant and decided to forgo his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. He has more work to do than some of the other players. So it would make sense that a team like the Chiefs that already have an established quarterback in Alex Smith would sniff around a player that could use some extra refinement.

Kizer sports a cannon for an arm. He also could use some work on his footwork and will have to spend time adjusting to reading an NFL defense just like Mahomes.
