Gareon Conley

CB, Ohio State

Teh Kansas City Chiefs were in a dogfight with the Oakland Raiders all season in 2016, finally winning the division on the last day of the regular season. In 2017, the Chiefs need to take the next step forward, as a loss at  home as the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs has to be weighing on head coach Andy Reid. Some believe that the Chiefs will take their future quarterback at No. 27, but adding depth in the secondary has to come first when they pick in a few weeks.

Gareon Conley is one of three Ohio State defensive backs who could go in the first round of the draft, and rightfully so. He teamed with Marshon Lattimore to give the Buckeyes the best cornerback tandem in the Big Ten, and he would fit right in with the Chiefs. Playing across the field from Marcus Peters, and with Eric Berry manning the deep part of the field, the Chiefs would once again have one of the more elite secondaries in the conference.

The biggest question on this team has to be the quarterback, as Alex Smith still has not shown the ability to win big games. However, the organization is sticking with him as their guy, which means bolstering the defense is a big deal this draft season. Conley is going to be a good player at the next level, and learning from elite defensive backs like Peters and Berry is only going to make him better in the long run.
