Jon Jones faced the media after the UFC 210 ceremonial weigh-ins and reacted to champ Daniel Cormier’s morning weigh-in craziness.
Even though Jon Jones will not be fighting at UFC 210, he certainly weighed-in on Friday evening in Buffalo, New York, weighing in on reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier’s successful second attempt to make 205-pounds at the official UFC 210 weigh-in on Friday morning.
Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, spoke to the media after UFC 210 ceremonial weigh-ins, and addressed what he saw with his divisional nemesis on Friday.
“The crazy thing was that it was allowed to happen,” Jones said. “I would imagine there would have to be some sort of commission or something to go back and see this blatant foul play and address it. They just completely got away with doing one of the dirtiest things I’ve seen in sports.”
Cormier successfully made weight on his second attempt on Friday morning, after losing 1.2 pounds in just over two minutes time. In what is being referred to as ‘Towelgate,’ questions were raised about ‘DC’ pushing against a towel while standing on the scale. The champion attempted to alleviate any misunderstanding earlier this afternoon.
“I just didn’t want you guys to see my junk,” Cormier said about the towel “What does [holding the towel] do. I don’t understand. It’s not something I’ve done before. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t show my junk.”
Whether Jones heard Cormier’s explanation or not, one thing is for certain — he is not buying it,
“That was absolutely nuts. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing,” Jones said.“If you focus on his hands, you can see him looking down and like balancing out his weight just right to make 205 [pounds]. What a clever trick. Pretty dishonest of him.”
The UFC light heavyweight championship will be on the line Saturday night at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, as Cormier defends against Anthony Johnson. With Jones expected to get his opportunity to regain the belt, ‘Bones’ will be watching the fight very closely.
