FanDuel Daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – April 13
Pitchers
High Salary Option
Madison Bumgarner $11300 – Bumgarner finds himself pitching in the game with the lowest implied run total of the day, at home against the Rockies, who strike out 23 percent of the time against left handed pitchers. Bumgarner strikes out his opponents 27 percent of the time and only allows a .215 average to left handed batters and a .280 average to right handed batters. Fantasy points will add up quickly in this one from a pitching standpoint, and Bumgarner will be one of the highest scoring pitchers of the day no matter what the end result of this game is. ****
Yu Darvish $10400 – Darvish enters his start today striking out 30 percent of his previous opponents. He is only allowing left handed batters a .270 average and right handed batters a .286 average. The only downside in this matchup from a fantasy perspective would be that the Angels only strike out 17 percent of the time against right handed pitchers, but Darvish will still get his whiffs today and should be one of the top scoring pitchers. ***
High Value Option
Francisco Liriano $7800 – Liriano will be need to bank on strikeouts today to pay off in your lineup, but that is a high possibility. He strikes out his opponents about 23 percent of the time and the Orioles as a team strike out 23 percent of the time against left handed pitchers. As long as Liriano can avoid too many walks throughout the game, that will put runners on base as well as run up his pitch count, he should be serviceable as a fantasy starting pitcher. **
Catchers
High Salary Option
Willson Contreras $3100 – Contreras is hitting .292 with one home run and five runs batted in on the season. He gets a great matchup today with the Dodgers lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu as he allows a .429 batting average to right handed hitters. Contreras is averaging 10.52 fantasy points per game in six games played and he is likely to raise that number after today. ***
High Value Option
Manny Pina $2200 – I am making the assumption that Pina will make the start tonight at Catcher for the Brewers, but make sure to check the starting lineup in case Jett Bandy ($2300) gets the start. I recommend both in this spot, but Pina has looked better at the plate. He slashed .405 in 38 plate appearances through spring training and is now batting .429 through five games in the majors. The matchup tonight is great, as Bronson Arroyo of the Reds has allowed a .827 average to right handed batters and is dragging a 13.50 earned run average on to the hill with him. ****
