Transfer quarterback Blake Barnett will get his first look at action in the 2017 spring game for the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday.
After an increased optimism surrounding the program since winning the Pac-12 South, the Arizona State Sun Devils have been trending the other way over the past few years. Last year, the Sun Devils missed a bowl game after starting 5-1. This year, they’re hoping to reverse course and quickly.
The team will get their first taste of action with their spring game in Tempe on Saturday. For Todd Graham, a winning season and an appearance in a bowl game is certainly the key to keeping himself off the hot seat in the future.

The Sun Devils have intrigue surrounding their quarterback spot right now. With the competition heating up for the spot, Blake Barnett steps in after transferring from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Barnett of course was benched in favor of Jalen Hurts at Alabama.
Now, he finds himself back out west and in a spot he can be comfortable in. With the program not carrying the same weight of expectations that Alabama does, Barnett will have his chance to show why he can be a top quarterback in college football.
With a weapon like N’Keal Harry, his job will be a lot easier. The Sun Devils can’t afford to go through another year of mediocrity. It’s up to Barnett to step in and be the answer to their woes and for the defense to finally make stops in the passing game.
