Chelsea have confirmed that captain John Terry will part ways with the club at the end of this season. Here are five possible transfer destinations for the Blues star.

John Terry has been a loyal servant to Chelsea for more than 20 years and in that time he’s won just about every trophy he could with the club. His impending departure from the club this summer isn’t surprising but it’s understandable Terry would have struggled to make the decision. However, if he wants to play regular first team soccer, then he needs to leave Stamford Bridge. Here are five potential transfer destinations for the Chelsea captain.

5. MLS/Chinese Super League

Although Terry probably wants to remain in England, he might struggle to turn down a big money move to a team in either MLS or the Chinese Super League. His former Chelsea teammate, Oscar, made a £60 million move to Shanghai SIPG that came with a huge salary increase for the Brazilian. The kind of money that the Chinese Super League clubs can offer is bordering on ridiculous but if Terry was to spend just one season over there he would be handsomely rewarded.

Another option is a move to MLS. That wouldn’t be as lucrative as a move to China, but the standard of play would be a lot higher. MLS seems unlikely given the league’s increasing reluctance to sign aging stars for inflated prices. Then again, the Chicago Fire bought Bastian Schweinsteiger last month, and he’s already had a positive impact on the team. Don’t count it out.
